Pandemrix in Switzerland not approved for pregnant women, children under 18

The Swiss government said GlaxoSmithKline's Pandemrix jab with squalene will not approved for use on pregnant women or children under 18  as protests in Switzerland over the untested jabs grow.

There is no clinical data on the swine flu jabs for pregnant women or children under 18. Clinical trials have started on these groups but are not due to finish until the end of next year.

The Swiss government gave approval to two swine flu jabs, Focetria and Pandemrix, last week. However, Celtura from Novartis was unexpectedly dropped.
